The average amount of chin Botox units is 2-10. However, the exact amount may vary depending on factors, i.e., individual outcome and desired outcome. Here, I (Dr. Mahnoor) will guide you about the Chin Botox Units and what the injection sites are for chin botox:
Chin Botox Units
I use dosage for my patients at the following criteria to treat chin botox:
The average is: 2-10 units
For chin dimpling / orange peel chin: 2-6 units
For chin wrinkles: 4-10 units
For cleft chin: 4–8 units
For crease chin: 4–6 units
For chin reshaping or balancing facial profile: 6–10 units

How to determine the exact Botox dosage for the chin?
Here’re the factors that I consider when deciding the dosage for patients:
Muscle strength & size:
For patients with larger or stronger chin muscles, I use an extra dosage. While for weaker muscles, a smaller amount is sufficient.
Gender:
For female patients, less is more than for males, as their muscles are weaker than those of males.
Treatment purpose:
Why do you undergo chin botox? That’s the reason…! Since the dosage for wrinkles & dimples is different.
Your body’s response:
Remember that Botox dosage isn’t one-size-fits-all. The same dose can react differently for you and your friend. Do my patient’s chin muscles relax faster or slower? Based on it, I decide the exact dose.
Desired outcome:
For more romantic results, more units are required than the normal dosage.
Dimpling severity:
For severe dimpling, I use an extra dosage to relax them.
First-Time vs. Maintenance Treatments:
First-time patients often need a slightly higher dosage. Over time, as the muscles get used to relaxing, fewer units are usually enough for maintenance.
Risks of Too Few or Too Many Units in Chin Botox
The right dose makes all the difference. If a very small amount is used, the chin may not smooth out properly, and lines or dimples can quickly return.
But if the dose is too high, the chin muscles can become over-relaxed. This may cause the chin to look uneven or overly flat or interfere with natural facial movement.
For this reason, only an experienced injector should decide your dosage so that the chin looks balanced and natural.
Chin Botox injection points
For chin dimples and wrinkles, Botox is injected into the mentalis muscle. For balancing the facial profile, Botox is injected into the Depressor labii inferioris (DLI) muscle. Your qualified injector knows where these muscles are located on the chin. By the way, both are present in the chin or at the lower lip region of the face.
Where not to inject chin botox?
- Too deep into the chin skin
- Too close to the lips
- Anywhere besides the chin mentalis & DLI muscles.
Your chin shapes the harmony of your whole face. With the right Botox dosage and precise injection, you don’t just smooth lines—you restore confidence and a natural, graceful look.
